The Earth is our skin

In this glimpse from Flowers of the Earth: The Prayer of the Guarani-Kaiowá, Guarani-Kaiowá leader Anastácio Peralta and Ñandesy Floriza de Souza Silva speak from a relationship with land that is at the heart of the film.

For the Guarani-Kaiowá, land is more than territory. It is body, ancestry, belonging, and life itself.

Anastácio, born in the Tey’i Kue community and now living in Panambizinho, has spent decades advocating for Guarani-Kaiowá land rights, including carrying the voices of his people to the United Nations.

Together, these voices invite us to encounter a different understanding of our place on Earth: we do not simply live upon the land. We belong to it.
