What is Harvest?
A video explaining the meaning of harvest in Christianity.
1.In Christian eschatology, the “harvest of mankind” is a divine metaphor and judgment process symbolizing the second coming (Parousia) of Jesus Christ and the ultimate separation of mankind into believers and unbelievers. In the Bible, this concept can be examined in two main sections, particularly through biblical texts. The details of the concept are explained in the Bible as follows: 1. Proverbs of Jesus (Matthew 13): In Matthew 13, in the parable of the wheat and the weeds, Jesus Christ directly associates the harvest with the end of the world. The good seed sown in the field (those who follow Christ) and the weeds (those who do evil) are left to grow together until the end of the world. When the time of harvest comes (at the end of the world), the separation is made through angelic reapers; the wicked are sent to punishment (the fiery furnace), and the righteous are taken into the Kingdom of God. 2. The Book of Revelation to John (Revelation Chapter 14): In Revelation 14:14-20, the harvest of the earth is depicted in two distinct stages through a celestial vision: The First Harvest (The Reaping of the Crops): This is the reaping of the crops of the earth by an angel (or Jesus) wearing a golden crown and sitting on a cloud, using a sharp sickle. This represents the gathering of God’s saved, faithful servants (saints). The Second Harvest (The Grape Harvest): Another angel gathers the vines (grapes) from the ground with a sharp sickle and throws them into the great wine pit of God’s wrath. This symbolizes the surrender to divine justice of those who rejected God’s judgment at a time when wickedness reached its peak on earth. In short, in Christianity, the harvest of humanity represents the end of God’s mercy, the fruit of human history, and the great final judgment day when those condemned to heaven and hell will be separated into eternal life under the leadership of Jesus Christ.
