Christopher Hitchens had one of those debate openings that still makes believers uncomfortable years later.
In this video, I’m reacting to Hitchens’ opening statement from his classic debate with John Lennox. But I’m not just looking at it as “atheist vs Christian.” I want to slow down and look at the questions Hitchens forces believers to answer.
Even if there is a creator, how do you know it is your God?
How do you know your religion got it right?
How do you know what God wants?
And if the universe was designed with humans in mind, why does so much of human history look like suffering while heaven just watched?
This is not about telling people what to think. It’s about listening to the strongest version of the argument and asking if we actually have an answer.
